Heart at Peace: Qigong and Yoga for the Summer Season with Ajeet Hari & Curtis Jirsa
Sunday, June 3rd from 2:00-5:00pm  *  Cost: Sliding Fee $15-$30
According to classical Chinese theory, summer is the most yang time of the year, when our bodies, minds, and emotions are most active and expansive. All this activity can overstimulate the heart, the organ associated with this season. We must therefore take time to cultivate peace and tranquility in order to keep the heart in its proper yin state. This restorative retreat combines Qigong, Yin Yoga, and Yoga Nidra to open the body and release tension and anxiety. We’ll begin with Four Seasons Qigong, a traditional Chinese practice that coordinates breath and movement to move energy (or Qi) through the heart meridian. This medical Qigong system was created hundreds of years ago to attune our bodies and emotions to seasonal energies. We’ll then turn to Yin Yoga to gently and deeply stretch and rehydrate the connective tissues and stimulate energy flow. The retreat will close with Yoga Nidra (a guided sleep meditation that relaxes the body and calms the mind) and a gentle gong sound-healing session. All Levels welcome; no prior experience in Qigong or Yoga required.
