Art of Awareness Wellness CenterAll of our groups are facilitated by one and sometimes two psychotherapists, depending on the size of the group. Group size ranges from six to ten people. Each group is structured to include:

  • Time for “check in”
  • Presentation of a topic
  • Processing and exploring the topic
  • “Grounding”, relaxation, and closure.

All group participants must also be seen by a therapist for Individual therapy, either in the community or at Art of Awareness, in order to participate in group.

Group objectives are:

  • To provide a structured format to focus upon skill building and support.
  • To enhance group members' development of safety, self care, and emotional regulation.
  • To use a variety of treatment modalities including: CBT, modified DBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, Psycho-Education, and Psychodynamic Therapy

See calendar for dates and times of groups and classes.

This group explores the relationship between Trauma and Compulsive Behaviors. The purpose of the group is to better understand the inter-connectedness between traumatic experiences and behaviors of obsession and compulsion, in order to develop awareness and healthy coping skills:

This group is designed to address the issues and concerns of people who eat as a way to soothe or numb emotions. This group is not about dieting nor is it focused on weight loss. This group is focused on developing a healthy relationship with food, your body and emotions. One of the possible side effects of a healthy relationship with food is acquiring a healthy weight range over time.

This group focuses on communication styles, boundaries, assertiveness, relationship patterns, family dynamics, and taking risks to create a healthy support network.

This group draws upon Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to improve coping skills and to develop relapse prevention plans.

Mindy Miller Muse, certified Hatha Yoga Instructor, facilitates this all levels class which focuses on balance, effort and ease, strength and flexibility, action and relaxation.
